DW Edge Snare Drum

Old School Quality with a Timeless Sound

The DW Edge snare drum is one of the offerings in the Collector’s Series. The Edge will certainly please many old school drummers with its maple core and attention to detail. Newer players will appreciate the crisp, bright sound and the many sizes in which the drum is offered. The 10-ply maple center section is handcrafted for precision and held securely together with large gauge brass bands.

The result is a tight, attractive snare drum that delivers excellent crack with rich wood undertones. The range of sizes includes the most popular 5X14. Depending on your style and musical genre, you may also choose depths of 5, 6 or 7. Plus widths of 12, 13, and 14 inches. Hardware options give the opportunity to customize the look of this handsome snare drum.

Likes

The materials and manufacturing process are all there to make this a great sounding, durable snare drum Projecting rich, warm tones and plenty of volume. Drummers like the control and variety achieved by the tuning options, and the large, generous sweet spot.

Dislikes

The DW Edge snare drum must be tuned pretty tight to achieve a really nice crack. It tends to loosen up gradually. The price turns off some buyers, but aficionados who play it awhile tend to think it worth the cost.

Overall Rating – 5 Stars

The DW Edge snare drum delivers the sound and performance professionals look for in a snare, and for this reason, we give it 5 Stars.
