Those playing the Ludwig Supra Phonic Snare Drum love the classic sound that is crisp and clean. The fact that the sound works well for all styles of music is also appreciated. The drum is easy to tune, and remains in tune longer than most.
Dislikes
Some playing this drum express concern about the quality of the components, particularly the P-85 throw off, which many upgrade to the P-86. The snare wires also may need to be replaced sooner rather than later.

The classic sound of the Supra Phonic, and the durability of the shell, are outstanding. The performance of the components brings into question its overall durability. Because those issues are manageable, we are comfortable giving the Ludwig Supra Phonic Snare Drum a 4 Star rating.
