Mapex Pro Snare Drum Review

Mapex Delivers on Their Promise
The Mapex Pro Snare Drum line is a highly rated group of professional grade snares. The most popular models are made from 7 plies of pure hard rock maple, totaling 5.8mm thick. Mapex Powerhoops of 2.3mm chrome steel provide lightweight yet sturdy resistance, and won’t affect the bright, crisp sound at all. Tough multi-coat lacquer finishes give beauty and durability to each snare. Snares 5.5X14, 5.5X13, and 6.5X14 complete the maple lineup. Mapex Pro series snare drums are also available in birch and steel models of various sizes. Twenty strand snare wires and Remo heads are standard equipment.

Drummers comment that the Mapex Pro Snare Drum does indeed deliver professional performance. The sound is big and variable. Tuned low, the Mapex snares reverberate with rich, earthy tones. A mid to high range of tune produces traditional bright, crisp sounds. The result is a snare that can be used for most genres and styles of music. The snares are easy to tune, and hold the tune well. Finally, these drums are priced affordably, making them a better value than most pro-quality snares.
Dislikes
The biggest knock heard about this set is that the hardware lacks the same professional quality as the rest of the Mapex Pro Snare Drum components.
