A Solid Snare to Start With

The Pearl Export Snare Drum is not currently part of the Pearl line up, but you’ll still find it as essential equipment on the kits of many drummers. Many started on an Export kit, and continue to appreciate the solid sound delivered year after year by this durable snare. The 5.5X14 inch construction will maintain its sound even with the inevitable dings and scratches that come with years of gigging. Pearl’s exclusive heat compression shell molding system makes for longevity, but also the volume and clarity it possesses.

Likes

The tone and warm sound of the Pearl Export Snare Drum has always been its signature characteristic, and one that has made it a best seller over the years. Though discontinued, parts are standard Pearl’s and the drum can be maintained and updated easily. Drummers commend the Export as being a great drum on which to learn, but also to play quality music. Styles it handles best include rock, jazz, pop and country.

Dislikes

This is an entry level snare, and some expect more than it can deliver, and are disappointed. Expect good quality sound, suitable for live playing in small venues. It does not have the volume for larger gigs or the crisp, rich sound for studio work.

The Pearl Export Snare Drum has a very good reputation, especially as an entry level drum. Quality used models can still be found, and at a good price. This is a solid 3 Star drum.
