Vintage Sound to Play or Collect
When discussing the history of the snares used in modern music, it doesn’t get any more classic than the Rogers Powertone Snare Drum. Produced throughout the late 1950’s and 1960’s, the drums are known for their vintage looks and sound as sweet and crisp as a Honeycrisp apple. Their all-Maple multi-ply shells, with maple reinforcement hoops, are responsible for the pure, rich sound they exude. Sizes ranges vary from era to era, with 5X14 being the standard, while hardware is mostly chrome. All models feature 8 lugs.

Drummers who still play their Rogers Powertone Snare Drum discuss the classic, bright sound produced, with plenty of maple-infused crackle. Collectors love the vintage looks of the various models, and the fact that their stock seems to be going up in the market. In other words, Powertone collector quality snares are a good investment!
Dislikes
The Rogers Powertone Snare Drum models available today have been around for some time. Many show the wear and tear that goes with being a fantastic drum that got played a great deal. Missing hardware can be difficult to find replacement for. Collectors also don’t like the fact that it is tough to get their hands on one without putting out some serious money!

The Rogers Powertone Snare Drum line would get a 5 for its vintage star power, but only a 3 for its current playability, depending on the drum's condition. We’ll meet in the middle and give it 4 Stars.
