Tama Starclassic Snare Drum

Professional Sound and Good Looks in Every Model

The Wow Factor in the Tama Starclassic line is pretty high. Every Tama Starclassic snare drum boasts the best components on the market. This wood series is highly rated for all the right reasons. Rich, multi-ply woods create superb sound that is rich, strong, and tight. The attack is crystal clear. Several models in Bubinga are available, in addition to Maple, Performer, and Artwood custom models. Richly inlayed and adorned and put together with industry-best hardware. These snares are works of art. The Tama Starclassic line also comes in Copper, Brass and Metalworks models. All are sensitive, crisp, with great attack. Hold-tight patented washers and a slip-free strainer maintain tight tune that endures.

Likes

Everything about the Starclassic line exhibits Tama’s commitment to superior materials and craftsmanship. This line also features an extensive array of sizes to fit any drummer’s preferences and any style of music. Drummers desiring a professional quality snare drum with beautiful appearance to match are choosing the Starclassic line. The sound is second to none.

Dislikes

The standard heads on most models are adequate, not great, and most drummers switch them out pretty quickly. Some mention that a drum this intricate takes longer to tune than most, and is not mastered immediately.

Overall Rating – 5 Stars

While the price point on these drums is fairly high, the sound and quality are there to justify it in most cases. Reducing the cost will make these drums more accessible, but the Tama Starclassic still deserves 5 Stars.
