The Sound and Beauty of Rich Maple

Ask any professional drummer what the best sounding snare drums are made of, wood, metal, or otherwise, and the immediate answer will be “maple.” The tree that gives us syrupy sweetness also provides the wood for the absolute finest snare drums on stage and in the recording studio. The Yamaha Maple Custom snare drum takes the perfect wood and configures it into a snare drum that will delight every drummer. This snare features the most sensitive sound anywhere, and is a great choice for any style of play. You don’t have to bang on this snare to elicit wonderful sound, full of texture and warmth, with plenty of volume.

Likes

Drummers who play the whole range of musical styles rave about the sound quality of the Yamaha Maple Custom snare drum. Jazz players appreciate the versatility achieved through tuning. Rockers like the crisp pop and crack. Freestyle players enjoy the incredible depth of sound exuding from the 7-ply maple shell. The snare is easy to tune, and holds it very well. Fantastic articulation and versatility highlight the reasons to use the Yamaha Maple Custom snare drum.

Dislikes

Some players don’t like the price. But this kind of quality does not come cheap. Heavy metal and punk players want a high-strung sound that this rich maple wood unit is not made to produce.

Overall Rating – 5 Stars

The only thing a drummer could take issue with is personal preference. The materials, the sound, the playability are all professional grade. For this reason, the Yamaha Maple Custom snare drum deserves 5 Stars.

    Hey Larry z.,

Thank you for adding your praise for this snare and drums! Do you find them to be as versatile as I’ve heard others say they are?

    Jeff
